Farmscape was featured in a few publications this past week. First, we spent some time talking with Zak Stone from GOOD magazine. In his article, he writes:
A company called Farmscape is proving that there's enough of an appetite for farming on residential land to turn the proposition into a high-growth business...
We hope the trend continues. Read the full article here.
We'd like to share this praise with our membership, who individually sponsors each node in our urban farm network. Farmscape is your farm and your accomplishment as well. Thank you to all our members for helping us continue to turn our vision for a thriving, disaggregated farm across Los Angeles into a growing reality in each backyard, schoolyard, or rooftop.
Emily Williams also posted some "echo" coverage of our political campaign in an article for planetizen, reporting that:
Using local farming as their platform, the Farmscape company has chosen to take on a political presence by running for office for the 2013 mayoral election.
Rachel James at smartplanet also reported on Farmscape, posing the question:
Could this model spark a shift in how we think about farming practices and the use of urban space?
We sincerely hope so. There are too many good reasons to grow good food in our open urban spaces, for us not to standardize the practice: for the sake of flavor, for longterm health, for sustainable landscaping, for a human-based urban plan, and of course to create environmentally and socially responsible food production.
It's been a busy week at Farmscape!
